The integrated operations of the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) and Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) is expected to be completed next November, a Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) official said Thursday.
"After the signing is the implementation, which is expected to be completed by November this year," BCDA Financial Services Group vice president Nena Radoc told GMA News Online.
The integration agreement will be signed Thursday afternoon at the Senate.
"There may be a soft roll out by March in time for the Holy Week rush," Radoc said.
Malacañang declared April 2 (Maundy Thursday) and April 3 (Good Friday) as regular holidays and April 4 (Black Saturday) a special non-working day.
An influx of motorists going to the provinces is expected during the Holy Week.
Senate President Franklin Drilon earlier complained that his trip in December was spoiled by monstrous traffic jams near the tollway booths he passed through.
The Senate leader said his travel from San Juan City to Baguio City took 11 hours.
NLEX is an 86.70-kilometer expressway from Balintawak in Quezon City to Dau in Pampanga while SCTEX is a 93.8-kilometer expressway that traverses Bataan, Pampanga, and Tarlac. – VS, GMA News
