HLURB suspends DMCI permit to sell Torre de Manila units
By KEITH RICHARD D. MARIANO, GMA News
The Housing and Land Use Regulatory Board (HLURB) suspended the license of DMCI Homes to sell condominium units in the controversial Torre de Manila.
The regulator issued the suspension order on Thursday afternoon in line with the temporary restraining order (TRO) the Supreme Court issued on Tuesday against the further construction of the condominium, HLURB Chief Executive Officer Antonio Bernardo told GMA News Online.
The suspension order starts as soon as the property developer receives the HLURB directive and will remain in place until the high court lifts the TRO, Bernardo said.
The SC ordered the developer to stop building the 46-story Torre de Manila, as the high court hears the cases lodged against the condominium development that mars the visual corridors of the Rizal monument in Luneta Park.
DMCI Homes said it will comply with the court order.
"It is, however, studying all its legal options including a motion to lift the TRO as soon as possible so as not to compromise its completion target late next year and to protect the interest of its condominium unit buyers," a company statement read.
Unit owners are entitled to a refund "if and when there is a final decision from the SC," Bernardo said. – VS, GMA News
