Lawyer Fortun to sue Cebu Pacific over flight canceled due to APEC
Lawyer Raymond Fortun has threatened to sue Cebu Pacific after the carrier allegedly cancelled his flight without prior notice on Thursday.
Fortun recounted his experiences in a Facebook post wherein he also accused Cebu Pacific of lacking professionalism and compassion after it failed to compensate fellow passengers on the cancelled November 19 flight.
"How could they do this to their fellow Filipinos in a foreign land? Maybe if your incompetence is exposed, you will realize that "providing a service to the public" requires something else: compassion," Fortun wrote.
"See you in court. Send your best, it ain't gonna matter," he added.
GMA News Online attempted to contact Cebu Pacific officials on Thursday evening and has yet to receive a response.
In his account, the lawyer flew to Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam with his family last November 16 after Cebu Pacific said he could do a web check-in for their Saigon-Manila return flight in an email sent on the 15th.
This was sent a day after Cebu Pacific gave out a notification that Manila was a no-fly zone from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on November 19 because of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit.
"Because it was a Saturday, I wanted to contact CebPac by Monday morning to confirm if the flight was canceled. There was a chance that the flight was still a go since the plane would have landed in Manila at 4:45am on Nov 19, or outside of the no-fly zone advisory," Fortun recalled.
He and his family only found out that their return flight was cancelled upon arrival at the airport on November 18 at 10:45 p.m.
