MRT-7 to decongest Metro Manila traffic by 2020

Once the Metro Rail Transit Line 7 (MRT-7) is fully operational by 2020, the mass rail system is expected to ease traffic in Metro Manila and cut the travel time from Quezon City to Bulacan by over two-thirds or from more than three hours to one hour.

"Ang mga nakatira malapit dito sa Quezon Memorial Circle, sa kahabaan ng Commonwealth Avenue at Fairview, hanggang sa mga taga-San Jose del Monte, Bulacan, ay magkakaroon na ng mas mabilis at episyenteng paraan para makarating sa kanilang mga trabaho, pati na sa iba pang sentro ng komersyo ng Kamaynilaan," President Benigno S.C Aquino III said during the groundbreaking ceremony on Wednesday.

"Ang biyahe mula San Jose del Monte hanggang sa Makati, na umaabot ngayon sa tatlo’t kalahating oras, magiging isang oras na lang," the President noted.

Construction of the 22-kilometer elevated mass rail system is set to start Wednesday. – VDS, GMA News
