Bank exec's lawyer says arrest was form of harassment
The arrest of the former RCBC Jupiter branch manager Maia de Guito for perjury on Wednesday is a form of harrassment, according to her lawyer.
In a report on GMA's "Unang Balita," Atty. Ferdinand Topacio, who went to the Makati Police headquarters, was quoted as saying that the legal team was not aware of the perjury case filed against de Guito.
He said they only learned of the case when de Guito was arrested in a mall in Barangay Poblacion in Makati City at 4:45 p.m.
He noted that the information on who filed the case and the basis of the charge were not attached to the arrest warrant.
De Guito had testified at the Senate hearing on the $81-million money laundering scandal.
The lawyer said they will try to find out who served the warrant, who sent the subpoena and who received the subpoena.
On Thursday morning, Topacio said they will process the necessary documents for de Guito's release on bail. — BAP, GMA News
