Baby girl born in-flight gets 1-million GetGo points from Cebu Pacific
For being born in-flight, baby Haven has earned one million GetGo points from budget carrier Cebu Pacific.
“To celebrate this momentous occasion in the life of one of our passengers, CEB awards baby Haven one million GetGo points, which she can use to fly with us for free,” Lance Gokongwei, CEB president and CEO, said in a statement on Thursday.
GetGo is a lifestyle rewards program for free flights with Cebu Pacific through points earned.
Baby Haven's lifetime points—no expiry date—may be used by her family.
A co-passenger of the mother and child shared the experience on her Facebook page. "Had the most 'NORMAL' flight ever with Cebu Pacific Air. A woman near our seat gave birth to a healthy baby girl, on our flight from Dubai back to PHL."
She is the first-ever baby delivered onboard a Cebu Pacific flight, albeit premature at 32 weeks. Baby Haven was born approximately four hours after flight 5J015 departed from the Dubai International Airport on August 14.
"The cabin crew, along with two registered nurses who were also passengers on the flight, assisted with the delivery," the airline noted.
The Manila bound flight was diverted to Hyderabad, India to ensure both mother and baby received medical assistance.
“We are happy that both mother and daughter are doing well, and would like to commend our flight and cabin crew for handling the situation with utmost professionalism and efficiency," Gokongwei said.
"We also express our sincerest gratitude to the two volunteer nurses who helped ensure the baby’s safe delivery,” he added. — Ted Cordero/VDS, GMA News
