Following the successful launch of Pokémon Go in the Philippines, Voyager Innovations Inc., the digital services arm of Smart Communications Inc., is on the prowl for more “lure managers.”

“With all the enterprise customers and brands going to us now, I think we’re going to reach at least 30 lure managers,” Dindo Marzan, managing director and vice president of Voyager, told reporters in a briefing in Makati City.

The company initially announced it was looking for only 10 lure managers related to the augmented reality game, but higher demand prompted Voyager to look for more, Marzan said.

Managers are expected to activate lures throughout a full-time, eight-hour shift from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a one-hour break.

“Someone has to put the lure module every 30 minutes. It’s actually for foot traffic,” he said.

Lure managers are “very well compensated,” Marzan said. He did not elaborate.

Several brands and companies have partnered with Voyager for managers to activate the lures, and fastfood companies are prospective partners.

“We have other brands tha tare willing to join us in sponsoring lures,” Marzan noted.

“People would go there because they want to get their Pikachu. All the people in this area will be alerted. There will be brands that will be giving away freebies,” he added.

Voyager has activated lures in Quezon City, which the company claimed was a success. Other companies outside Metro Manila have signified interest to partner the Voyager.

“Some even wanted to have their lure managers in Cebu and Bohol,” Marzan said, noting that logistics have compelled Voyager to focus on Metro Manila for now. — VDS, GMA News
