There is no assurance that all of December, including the Christmas holidays, would be bright .

The Department of Energy said it is possible that Metro Manila will experience power interruptions next month.

A report on GMA News' "News To "Go on Thursday noted the DOE is doing all it can to avoid such a glum scenario for the holidays.

It has ordered an investigation into the nine power plants that failed to deliver output last Tuesday, plunging the Luzon grid into red alert.

An estimated 1.6-million customers of the Manila Electric Company (Meralco) were affected.

The DOE has not ruled out the possibility that power plant operators planned the outage to increase the generation charge, the report said.

The electricity supply and transmission lines remain in good condition.
