JOBSTREET REPORT

IT professionals are still highest paid employees

Professionals in the information technology (IT) sector remain the highest-paid employees in the Philippines, results of the latest JobStreet.com report showed on Wednesday.

According to the "Salary Report and Job Trends Initial Data" released by the jobs portal, IT professionals command a monthly salary of P37,034 for a junior executive, to P68,723 for supervisors.

This is because IT jobs entail certain difficulties on top of the hardships students must go through to get a degree in the field, JobStreet.com Country Manager Philip Gioca said in a briefing in Makati City.

"IT-related continues to increase (in terms of salary)," he said.

Uptrend mobility

"From the data we gathered, we can really see the uptrend mobility of professions as indicated by their respective industry's increase in salary," Gioca said.

"This also shows how current companies are expanding as they are more inclined to invest in their employees," he added.

This year,  business process outsourcing (BPO) remains the top-employment sector accounting for 38 percent of the total workforce, Gioca noted.

"BPOs still constitute the highest or most number of jobs that is being generated by the country, followed by retail at 3 percent and manufacturing at 2.8 percent," he said. — VDS, GMA News
