The National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) has lifted the red alert status over the Luzon Grid after two hours, but replaced it with a yellow alert as the power supply remains limited but no longer critical after a swarm of earthquakes hit Batangas province over the weekend.
"As of 3 p.m., red alert has been lifted by NGCP for the Luzon Grid. Available capacity is now at 9,772 megawatt per hour (MW), while peak demand is at 9,351 MW," the NGCP said via Twitter.
The Luzon grid was placed under red alert at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, after a swarm of earthquakes hit Batangas province over the weekend.
Energy Spokesperson Felix Fuentebella earlier said the yellow alert status may last until Wednesday. — VDS, GMA News
