BIR files P132-M tax raps vs. 2 firms
Two companies in Central Luzon were charged by the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) on Tuesday with tax evasion worth P131.96 million before the Department of Justice (DOJ).
Facing complaints for violations of the Tax Code are the officers of Hyheavy Industrial Inc. based in Castillejos, Zambales and Hans Christian Marketing and Hans Jefferson Marketing based in Cabanatuan City.
In the first complaint, the BIR accused Hyheavy officials Roderick Salem, Elvie Kang and South Korean Yoo Beongsun of failing to pay taxes worth P99.83 million, inclusive of surcharges and interest, in 2012.
A computerized matching conducted by the agency on the information/data provided by Bumjin Philippines Construction, Inc. showed that the firm made several purchases from Hyheavy in 2012 amounting to P17.06 million.
An audit investigation by the BIR found that the sales of Hyheavy were unreported which was attested by Bumjin auditor Vilma Aldea.
The BIR also said Hyheavy did not file any income tax return for 2012 despite the sales transaction with Bumjin.
Efren De Belen Melosantos, on the other hand, is facing charges as sole proprietor of Hans Christian Marketing and Hans Jefferson Marketing.
He was sued for failing to pay P32.13 million in taxes for 2011.
According to the BIR, Melosantos did not challenge the tax deficiency assessment, thus making it "final, executory and demandable."
"The respondent's (Melosantos) obstinate failure and continued refusal to pay his long overdue deficiency tax assessments, despite repeated demands, constitute willful failure to pay the taxes due to the government," the BIR said. —ALG, GMA News
