SMC's Ramon Ang says $2B spillway to solve Metro Manila flooding

San Miguel Corp. (SMC) is submitting an unsolicited proposal to the government for a $2 billion spillway project that will supposedly solve the flooding in Metro Manila.

The spillway is 14 meters in diameter and will cost nearly $ 2billion. But it will benefit the country in a tremendous way – no more flood, SMC President and COO Ramon S. Ang told reporters in a briefing in Makati City.

The project entails the construction of a spillway to improve water flow from Laguna de Bay to Manila Bay.

Magkakaroon ng massive flooding every rainy season sa Metro Manila," he said.

"That's the most important flood control project.

The company is seeking the rights to utilize the materials of the project in exchange for the construction.

"Bigyan lang ako ng rights to use the materials," Ang said, but did not elaborate.
