Philippine Airlines (PAL) and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) signed a memorandum of agreement providing travel privileges in the form of discounts on domestic economy or business class tickets.

The flag carrier said the discount is 20 percent off the base fare of a ticket and will include free baggage allowance.

Reservations may be made at any PAL ticket office in the Philippines or through the PAL Reservations hotlines, the airline said.

To get the discount, AFP personnel are required to present a valid ID card and a travel order for rest and recreation signed by an authorized signatory.

“PAL has renewed with vigor the grant of said travel benefits to our country’s ‘heroes’ as a way of providing assistance to them as they travel throughout the country,” PAL executive vice president, treasurer and chief administrative officer Stewart Lim said.

The airline recognized the AFP’s role in security operations in Mindanao where soldiers continue to risk and sacrifice their lives.

The agreement was signed by AFP Chief-of-Staff Gen. Carlito Galvez Jr., Deputy Chief of Staff for Personnel Brig. Gen. Erickson Gloria, AFP Morale and Welfare Division Chief Lt. Col. Ma. Noel Tolentino, PAL’s Lim, PAL SVP for Operations Ismael Augusto Gozon, and PAL SVP Legal Siegfred Mison.
