ONLY IF AGENCY QUALIFIES

Gov’t employees to receive up to P25,000 cash bonus in December

Employees working for government agencies that generated savings will receive another cash incentive in December, Budget Secretary Benjamin Diokno said Wednesday.

The incentive covers regular, contractual, or casual positions, full-time or part-time in national government agencies, state universities and colleges, government-owned and controlled corporations, local water districts, and local government units.

“Qualified government employees may expect to receive another cash incentive not exceeding P25,000, through the Collective Negotiation Agreement or CNA,” Diokno said in a breakfast forum in Manila.

“The annual CNA incentive is a one-time benefit, and shall be granted not earlier than Dec. 15, 2018,” the Budget chief said.

Both management and rank-and-file employees of agencies with approved and successfully implemented CNAs will get the incentive.

“This is in recognition of their efforts in accomplishing performance targets at lesser cost and in attaining more efficient and viable operations through cost-cutting measures and systems improvement,” Diokno said.

The CNA incentive is on top of the year-end bonus and P5,000 cash gift for state workers beginning November 15

“If your agency is not able to generate savings do not expect this incentive,” Diokno said.

“They can talk to their management to inquire about the CNA incentive,” he said.

Budget Circular No. 2018-5 defines the employees entitled to the benefit from the CNA initiative as civilian personnel—regular, contractual, or casual—rendering services full-time or part-time in state universities and colleges, government-owned and controlled corporations, local water districts, and local government units, whether or not covered by Republic Act No. 6758 or the Salary Standardization Law.

“The rate of CNA incentive shall not be pre-determined since it is subject to compliance with conditions outlined in Budget Circular No. 2018-5, as well as the availability of the allowable allotments,” Diokno said.

“But in all cases, the CNA incentive shall not exceed P25,000 per qualified employee,” he said. —VDS, GMA News
