DOE gives the green light for Dennis Uy and China National’s LNG terminal project

The Department of Energy (DOE) on Thursday said it has given the green light for Dennis Uy’s Phoenix Petroleum and China National Offshore Oil Corp. to proceed with their liquefied natural gas (LNG) project in Batangas.

Oil Industry Management Bureau Director Rino Abad, the Tanglawan Philippines LNG Inc. was approved last month. Tanglawan is the joint venture between China National and Phoenix Petroleum.

“December 21, last year,” Abad told GMA News Online on the sidelines of a press conference in Taguig City.

“The company plans to break ground by 2019 for the regasification and receiving terminal, with a capacity of 2.2 million tons per annum (mpta), with commercial operations targeted to start by 2023,” Phoenix Petroleum said in a separate regulatory filing on Friday.

“Tanglawan Philippines LNG Inc. has been granted by the Department of Energy the ‘Notice to Proceed’ to build an LNG terminal in Batangas,” according to the filing submitted by Phoenix Petroleum’s legal manager Rosalio Roque. —VDS, GMA News
