Airport consortium, BCDA sign 25-year concession deal over Clark International

The North Luzon Airport Consortium (NLAC) on Tuesday signed a concession agreement with the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) over the development of Clark International Airport.

In a regulatory filing submitted by Filinvest Development Corp. legal counsel Sharon Refuerzo, the company said the 25-year concession agreement was signed in Taguig City on Tuesday, January 22.

“The development of Clark International, primed to be the next premier gateway to Asia, has reached a major milestone today with the signing of the concession agreement for the airport’s operations and maintenance granted by the BCDA to the NLAC,” the filing read.

The consortium is made up of Filinvest, JG Summit Holdings Inc., Philippine Airport Ground Support Solutions Inc. (PAGSSI), and Changi Airports Philippines (I) Pte. Ltd.—a wholly owned subsidiary of Changi Airports International.

A similar filing was submitted to the local bourse by JG Summit corporate secretary Rosalinda Rivera also on Tuesday.

The consortium bagged the airport development project last December. It submitted a P5.61-billion contract for operations and maintenance of Clark International.

During the 25-year concession period, NLAC will take charge of development and marketing of Clark International as the major gateway to Northern and Central Luzon.

The project involves operations and maintenance of the existing and proposed new passenger terminal buildings in the Clark Special Economic and Freeport Zone in Angeles City, Pampanga.

The Changi Group was earlier tapped by the NAIA Consortium to provide technical support in rehabilitating the Ninoy Aquino International Airport. —Jon Viktor Cabuenas/GMA News
