DICT: Mislatel may start having subscribers in Metro Manila by October

Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Acting Secretary Eliseo Rio on Wednesday said Mislatel Consortium may start having subscribers by the fourth quarter of this year.

Rio clarified to reporters during the "Kapihan sa Manila Bay" that the service of Mislatel will initially be felt in Metro Manila.

"I can say that even... maybe on the fourth quarter of this year, they will be able to get their first subscribers, especially dito sa Metro Manila, mga siguro October meron ng service... Di pa actually nationwide," Rio said.

"Ang ine-expect natin kung makapagfully-operate na sila mga give them about one year. Mostly standard 'yan eh," he added.

Rio bared that Mislatel is already beginning the construction of its cell sites.

"'Yung makapagoperate ng third telco kung meron na silang infrastructure na sa ngayon zero. Sa ngayon nagumpisa na sila na magtayo ng kanilang cell sites," Rio said.

"Kinakausap na nila ang mga partners doon sa mga small telcos, mga cable tv operators," he added.

The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) declared the Mislatel Consortium as the new telecommunications major player last November 19, 2018.
