The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is warning the public not to buy and consume several “Simply Wonders” products in the absence of the necessary permits to be sold in the Philippine market.

According to advisory 2019-164, the FDA warned the public against purchasing and consuming the following products:

  • SIMPLY WONDERS LEMON PLUS WITH HONEY
  • SIMPLY WONDERS CHOCO+ 8-in-1-BLEND
  • SIMPLY WONDERS PURPLE CORN 18-N-1 COFFEE
  • SIMPLY WONDERS PURPLE CORN JUICE 6 IN 1

“The FDA verified through post-marketing surveillance that the above-mentioned food products are not registered and the Certificate of Product Registration (CPR) have not yet been issued,” the advisory read.

Under Republic Act 9711 or the Food and Drug Administration Act of 2009, the manufacture, importation, exportation, sale, offering for sale, distribution, transfer, non-consumer use, promotion, advertising or sponsorship of health products without the proper authorization is prohibited.

“Likewise, all claims in the advertisements are false, deceptive, and misleading,” said the FDA.

“Since these unregistered food products have not gone through evaluation process of the FDA, the agency cannot guarantee their quality and safety. The consumption of such violative products may pose health risk to consumers,” it added.

GMA News Online has gotten in touch with Simply Wonders, but has yet to get a response as of this posting.

The FDA has since urged the public to report any concerns to its Food Regulation and Research at cffr@fda.gov.ph or at (02)857-1900 loc. 8115 and 8112, or online at www.fda.gov.ph/ereport. —Jon Viktor Cabuenas/VDS, GMA News
