FDA warns against buying, consuming 9 unregistered food supplements

The Food and Drug Administration has warned the public against buying and consuming any of the nine unregistered food supplements that are circulating in the market as the products may pose health risks.
According to FDA advisories released over the weekend, the following food supplements were not authorized and do not bear the required Certificates of Product Registration:
- Truhaircare Premium Formula
- On Glutamine Powder
- 1up Nutrition Recharge Pm Burner Sleep Aid-Pm Fat Burner Dietary Supplement
- Bpi Sports Roxy Lean Medi-Biological Weight Loss Dietary Supplement
- Muscletech Performance Series Cell Tech, Orange Flavor
- Muscletech Pro Series Muscle Builder Dietary Supplement
- Muscletech Essential Series Platinum Garcinia Triple Dose Garcinia Formula Dietary Supplement
- Muscletech Performance Series Hydroxycut Hardcore Next Gen Dietary Supplement
- Muscletech Performance Series Vaporx5, Icy Rocket Freeze Natural And Artificial Flavor

“Since these unregistered food supplements have not gone through evaluation process of the FDA, the agency cannot assure their quality and safety. The use of such violative products may pose health risks to consumers,” the FDA said.
FDA regional officers have been ordered to coordinate with enforcement agencies and local governments to ensure that these products will not be sold in the market until the appropriate authorizations have been issued.
The sale and distribution of unregistered food supplements may be reported online via the FDA website. —VDS, GMA News
