McDonald's targets to end 2019 with more than 100 ‘NXTGEN’ stores

Golden Arches Development Corp. (McDonald's Philippines) is eyeing to close 2019 with more than 100 innovative or "NXTGEN" stores all over the country.

"Lalampas kami ng 100. To close 2019, definitely over a hundred," McDonald’s Philippines executive vice president and managing director Margot Torres told reporters on the sidelines of the company's memorandum of agreement signing with the City of Manila on Wednesday.

Almost a year since it launched its first NXTGEN store in McKinley West, Taguig City in October 2018, Torres said McDonald's Philippines has already built and converted a total of 101 stores into NXTGEN stores.

"We already have about 101 na... all over the Philippines mula La Union hanggang Davao," she said.

"Tuloy tuloy lang ang expansion namin of NXTGEN," she added.

The NXTGEN stores feature self-ordering kiosks, a digital alternative to order and pay for their meals using Mastercard and Visa card payments regardless of the issuing bank.

"'Yung mga consumer kasi natutuwa sila sa self-order kiosks they have control of the order, di na kailangan pumila," Torres said.

McDonald's Philippines is spending around P3 billion for its NXTGEN stores initiative this year. —LDF, GMA News
