Cebu Pacific to accept 16 more cadet pilots for ‘study now, pay later’ program

Budget carrier Cebu Pacific on Sunday said that they would be accepting another 16 prospective pilots for the ninth batch of its "study now, pay later" program

The airline would start accepting applications from Monday, November 4, 2019 until Wednesday, November 13, 2019.

Accepted recruits would undergo 52 weeks of integrated flight training, theory, and education at Flight Training Adelaide in Australia.

They would also undergo an additional four weeks of training to obtain a pilot's license under the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP).

Under the program, the airline would initially shoulder the costs and amortize the payment for the course.

The program would be financed by the carrier, and successful pilots who enter the airline would reimburse the cost of the program through salary deductions over a maximum of ten years.

The application process begins with online pre-screening, followed by an on-site screening for core skills and pilot aptitude tests, among other examinations, for which a fee of $425.00 or about P19,000 would be charged.

Qualified applicants had to have an average grade of at least 80 percent or its equivalent in subjects related to Math, Physics, and English.

At present, the company has 74 cadet-pilots in its program, with the first batch expected to assume First Officer duties in the fourth quarter of 2019.

In 2017, Cebu Pacific said they would be shelling out some $25 million during the next five years of the cadet pilot training program. — Jon Viktor Cabuenas/DVM, GMA News
