PAGCOR resumes acceptance of applications for medical financial aid
The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) on Monday resumed its acceptance of medical financial assistance applications after temporarily suspending it last week.
PAGCOR Vice President for Corporate Social Responsibility Group James Patrick Bondoc made the announcement during the meeting of the House Committee on Games and Amusement earlier in the day.
"We have resumed just today. It was temporary," Bondoc told the panel.
PAGCOR last week announced that it decided to stop receiving requests for financial assistance after a couple attempted to defraud the agency "by submitting spurious documents for fictitious medical cases."
The agency said the suspects who attempted to defraud were arrested by the Manila Police District operatives following an entrapment operation.
Bondoc said PAGCOR has decided to resume accepting applications but the documents to be submitted to them should first be verified by the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office.
"Ang utos ni Chairman Andrea [Domingo] is to resume operations but to go back to the old practice na kailangan verified muna ng PCSO yung dokumento," he said.
The couple who was earlier arrested for fraudulent activities now facing charges for falsification of public documents by a private individual and using false certificates. —NB, GMA News
