AirAsia to resume Philippine domestic flights starting June 3

Budget airlines AirAsia announced Sunday that it will gradually resume services in the Philippines starting June 3, Monday, after the government decided to ease COVID-19 community quarantine restrictions in Metro Manila and several parts of the country.

Gradual resumption of services, the airlines said, means flights will initially be back for key domestic routes, and gradually extend the services to international destinations starting July 1, 2020.

In a statement, AirAsia Philippines CEO Ricky Isla said, “During the hibernation of our fleet, we took the time to step up our handling procedures to ensure that our guests have a swift and safe journey with us. Needless to say, we are well prepared to welcome everyone onboard..."

He further said that select flights are open for booking via the airasia.com website and their mobile app.  Likewise, Isla said that guests may use their credit accounts to redeem these flights.

Additional routes and flight schedules will be on the AirAsia website and mobile app, subject to approval from the authorities, Isla added.

The airlines also informed its guests that operations for domestic flights will be temporarily moved to Terminal 3 of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport from its previous location at Terminal 4, adding that the temporary suspension of Terminal 4 operations is until further notice by airport authorities.  —LBG, GMA News
