Baguio's Forest House announces final farewell

Forest House, a bistro cafe and bed and breakfast in Baguio considered one of the best restaurants in the Philippines, on Tuesday announced its farewell amid the coronavirus pandemic.

In an announcement made through social media, Forest House thanked its patrons for the last 19 years in what it said was its last farewell.

"Whether you dropped by for a cup of coffee or a feast with your family, we thank you for your support. We are glad that Forest House became a part of your dining experience. But unfortunately, an era comes to an end. Forest House is closing its doors," it said.

Forest House was awarded by The Philippine Tatler as one of the Philippines' Best Restaurants in 2018, where it was given a four-star rating.

"True to its name, Forest House opens its doors to a home. The foyer brings the warmth of a cosy living room, and the menu the heart of a home-cooked meal. On a clear day, the balcony presents a view of the mountains framed by the colours of Baguio’s flora and fauna. At night, it is transformed into a romantic setting," Philippine Tatler said in its writeup.

The announcement is the latest in a growing number of list of micro, small, and medium enterprises that have closed shop as casualties of the coronavirus pandemic.

In May, Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez said over 525,000 or 52.66% of MSMEs in the country had to stop operations due to the lockdowns imposed to prevent the spread of the virus.

"We are grateful for the last 19 years. Each time you entered, we warmly welcomed you; and as you left, we thanked you and bid you goodbye. But this time we say our last farewell," the Forest House said.—AOL, GMA News
