PAL international flights for August 2020

Flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) continues to operate international flights even with the modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) placed in Metro Manila and nearby areas, linking the country's main gateway to four continents.

In an advisory on Thursday, PAL said it currently operates 40 flights a week from Manila, preserving only the remaining non-stop routes between the Philippines and the United States, Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, Indonesia, and Vietnam.

Below is a list of the carrier's international flights this month:

PAL clarified, however, that domestic flights to and from Manila remain suspended while the MECQ is in place, while the international flights are still subject to government guidelines in line with testing and quarantines.

Over the weekend, President Rodrigo Duterte said Metro Manila, Bulacan, and the Calabarzon areas would again be placed under the MECQ from August 4 to 18 following pleas of the healthcare sector for a "timeout" amid the surge in COVID-19 cases.

Frontliners earlier called on the government to consider reimposing stricter quarantine measures to give health workers a time to recuperate from exhaustion due to the non-stop admission of COVID-19 patients.

Duterte, however, also taunted healthcare workers and said they should have asked for an audience in airing their plea, instead of making public statements. — BM, GMA News
