Expect slower internet connection due to 5-day cable system maintenance —SKY

SKY Cable Corporation on Thursday advised its SKY Fiber subscribers that internet services will experience a slowdown due to the five-day maintenance of an international cable system.

In an advisory, SKY said its services will be affected when the Asia-America Gateway performs emergency maintenance of its subsea international cable systems.

Like PLDT, when it made its earlier announcement, SKY said that the maintenance would begin on September 25, 8 a.m.

However, PLDT later issued an update, saying that the maintenance work will begin on Sept. 26 at 9 a.m. instead.

“This will result in slow connection affecting social media, web browser, and video streaming sites such as Facebook, Google, and Netflix,” it said.

“We are working with our technology partners to minimize the effects of this activity to our subscribers,” SKY said. — Ted Cordero/BM, GMA News
