Skyway 3 toll-free 'hangga't kaya', says San Miguel's Ramon Ang

San Miguel Corp. president and COO Ramon Ang has said that the company would keep the 18-kilometer Skyway Stage 3 toll-free for as long as it can afford.

However, Ang raised concerns about the company's financial obligations to its debtors.

“Hanga’t kaya namin, libre. Kaya lang alam niyo, inutang lang din namin ang pagpapatayo niyan,” the San Miguel chief said.

“Kinakatok na kami ng [mga] bangko na nagpautang niyan, na kailan ba kayo mag-uumpisa maningil para makabayad kayo?” he added.

Motorists are still using Skyway 3 for free because the Toll Regulatory Board has yet to approve the proposed toll rates for the elevated expressway.

San Miguel’s petition shows that toll fees range from P110 to P274 depending on the length of the trip from entry point to exit point.

For example, those coming from Buendia going to North Luzon Expressway will pay P274. Travel from NLEX going to Buendia will be charged the same.

“Hangga't pwede po, gagawin po nating libre,” Ang said.

To recall, SMC soft-opened Skyway Stage 3 on December 29, 2020 and announced it will be free for motorists for one month.

On January 15, the 18-kilometer elevated toll road’s seven lanes officially opened. -NB, GMA News
