Megaworld transport terminals arm ink interconnection deal with PITX
Megaworld Corp.’s transport terminals arm Township Transport Terminal Inc. (T31) has entered into an agreement with Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) to expand the operations of its Southwood City Transport Hub.
Megaworld’s T31 and MWM Terminals Inc., a fully-owned subsidiary of Megawide and operator of PITX, have recently signed a memorandum of understanding for the formalization of the interconnection of the two companies’ transport terminals.
The agreement is seen to establish seamless connectivity between Megaworld’s Southwood City Transport Hub in Binan, Laguna with the PITX, the country’s first landport in Paranaque City, Megaworld said in a statement on Friday.
The partnership is also envisioned to improve the delivery of terminal services to PUV operators and benefit thousands of commuters heading south from Metro Manila and vice versa, it added.
"Megaworld currently has 26 townships all over the country. And we have a growing community, people who lived and worked there. That is why it is important to us to create seamless accessibility and mobility to and from our townships,” said Megaworld chief strategic officer Kevin Tan.
"It is very important and very strategic to be able to create linkages between the various Megaworld townships, especially in Luzon, to the PITX," Tan added.
The MOU was entered into by the two companies in view of the thrust to improve the delivery of terminal services to PUV operators and the commuting public, according to Megaworld.
The accord is also aimed at forging a partnership that will establish seamless interconnectivity between the transport terminals of Megaworl’s T31 and the PITX.
"PITX welcomes T31, the mobility arm of Megaworld, as part of our growing network of terminals. We are looking forward to a productive cooperation with their group to meet the growing demands of the public transport industry," MWM Terminals managing director Jaime Feliciano said.
T31 is a fully-owned subsidiary of Megaworld Corp. established in 2020 to provide seamless inter-connectivity and mobility to a wide range of transportation modes.
It aims to complement the integrated township lifestyle that Megaworld pioneered with an efficient mass transit system.
T31 currently operates transportation hubs in Southwoods City, Eastwood City, McKinley Hill and Iloilo Business Park.
More T31 Transport Hubs will be launched in 2021 including Arcovia City, Eastland Heights, Highland City, Capital Town, Clark City Front and Maple Grove, according to Megaworld.—LDF, GMA News
