NLEX to hike toll fees starting May 18

Motorists traversing the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) will have to pay more starting Tuesday, as approved by the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB).

Starting Tuesday, May 18, NLEX toll fees will be hiked by 2% to 3%.

For those traveling from Mindanao Avenue or Balintawak and exiting in Bocaue, they will have to pay the following:

  • Class I vehicles or ordinary cars will pay an additional P2;
  • Class II vehicles or buses and small commercial trucks will pay an additional P3.00; and
  • Class III vehicles will pay an additional P4.00.

For end-to-end travels, Class 1 vehicles will be charged P6; Class 2 P14; and Class 3 P16.

"The regular adjustment is primarily intended to allow the investor to keep on operating the expressway to the standards that we require them," TRB Spokesperson Julius Corpuz said in Dano Tingcungco's report on GMA's "24 Oras Weekend."

"It also allows the investor to continue doing the widening and expansion work for the facility to be more efficient," he added.

The 105-kilometer NLEX connects Metro Manila to central and northern Luzon, and is operated by NLEX Corp.

NLEX Corp. also holds the concession for the 8-kilometer NLEX Connector Road, an all-elevated highway that links the NLEX and the South Luzon Expressway. Jon Viktor Cabuenas/DVM, GMA News
