500,000 Manila Water customers to face 10-hour service interruption


Some 500,000 customers of the Manila Water Company Inc. are set to experience a 10-hour service interruption this week as the company conducts maintenance operations.

In an advisory, Manila Water said it will cut and plug its old 500mm mainline along Ortigas Avenue near EDSA in Barangay Ugong Norte, Quezon City.

The interruption will start 11 p.m. on Wednesday, June 2, and will last until 9 a.m. on Thursday, June 3, 2021.

This will affect a population of 500,000 in 110,355 households, and commercial and business establishments across 39 barangays in Metro Manila.

Mandaluyong
Addition Hills, Barangka Drive, Barangka Ibaba, Barangka Ilaya, Barangka Itaas, Buayang Bato, Hagdang Bato Itaas, Hagdang Bato Libis, Highway Hills, Hulo, Malamig, Maumay, San Jose, Plainview, Plesant Hills, Wack-Wack East Greenhills.

Pasig City
Bagong Ilog, Oranbo, and parts of Kapitolyo, San Antonio, and Ugong.

Quezon City
Bagong Lipunan ng Crame, Horseshoe, Immaculate Concepcion, Kaunlaran, Pinagkaisahan, San Martin de Porres, Ugong Norte, Valencia

San Juan City
Addition Hills, Corazon de Jesus, Greenhills, Isabelita, Little Baguio, Maytunas, Onse, Santa Lucia, St. Joseph, West Crame

"Manila Water is advising residents of the said barangays to store enough water to supply their needs only during the interruption period," it said.

The concessionaire said customers should allow a few minutes for flushing before using the water from their taps.

Manila Water is the east zone concessionaire which services 23 cities and municipalities in Metro Manila and Rizal.

These include Mandaluyong, Makati, Pasig, Pateros, San Juan, Taguig, Marikina, and parts of Quezon City and Manila. The towns of Angono, Baras, Binangonan, Cainta, Cardona, Jalajala, Morong, Pililia, Rodriguez, Tanay, Taytay, Teresa, San Mateo and Antipolo in the province of Rizal are also part of the East Zone.

Shares in Manila Water closed Monday at P14.18 apiece, down by 24 centavos or 1.66% from last Friday's finish of P14.42.—LDF, GMA News
