Local stock market enters second half of 2021 in the green
Share prices on the Philippine Stock Exchange closed in the green on Thursday, entering the second half of the year on a strong note amid investor optimism on the country’s economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.
The bellwether PSEi gained 62.10 points or 0.90% to 6,964.01 in the closing bell. The broader All Shares increased by 30.85 points or 0.73% to close at 4,275.43.
“Philippines shares opened the 2nd half of the year on a high note as investors bid farewell to the second quarter positively,” Regina Capital Development head of sales Luis Limlingan said.
“Despite the recent high inflation reading many continue to bet that economic rebound is within reach,” he said.
More than 2.926 billion valued at P13.515 billion, changed hands. Advancers led decliners, 120 to 81, and 49 issues were unchanged. — BM, GMA News
