Century Pacific, RFM included in Forbes Asia’s Best Under A Billion List

Two Philippine firms were included in Forbes Asia’s Best Under A Billion 2021 list, highlighting 200 companies in the region which post consistent growth.

The companies were selected from 20,000 publicly traded companies in the Asia-Pacific region with annual revenue of at least $10 million to below $1 billion.

“Despite the global spread of COVID-19, this year’s annual Best Under A Billion list highlights the resilience of 200 publicly listed small and midsized companies in the Asia-Pacific region with sales under $1 billion,” Forbes’ Ardian Wibisono said in a writeup.

“Their sound financial figures reflect how well these companies coped in the midst of a global pandemic,” he added.

The listees were chosen based on a composite score that considered their overall track record in debt, sales and earnings-per-share growth in the past three years, and the strongest one- and five-year average returns on equity.

Companies with governance issues, questionable accounting, environmental concerns, management issues, legal troubles, and those state-controlled and subsidiaries of larger firms were excluded.

Among the listees from the Philippines is food canner Century Pacific Food Inc., which Forbes listed with $1.8 billion in market capitalization and $974 million in sales.

Century Pacific’s main business segments are canned and processed fish segment, the canned meat segment, dairy and mixes, tuna export, and coconut.

Its brands include Century Tuna, 555, Blue Bay, Fresca, Lucky Seven, Argentina, Swift, Shanghai, Wow, Angel, Birch Tree, Kaffe de Oro, and Home Pride.

RFM Corp. was also included in this year’s list, with $301 million in market capitalization and $317 million in sales.

The company has two business segments—the institutional segment which manufactures and sells flour, bakery, and other products to firms; and the consumer segment which manufactures and sells ice cream, milk and juices, pasta products, and flour- and rice-based mixes.

RFM is known for its brands White King All-Purpose Flour, Fiesta Spaghetti, Selecta Moo, Sunkist Orange Pulp, Vitwater, Selecta Magnum, Selecta Cornetto, Selecta Paddle Pop, and Royal Spaghetti.—AOL, GMA News
