DITO sees 6 million subscribers by end of 2021

Third telco DITO Telecommunity Corp. is expecting to end the year 2021 with about six million subscribers, nine months since its commercial launch in March.

“We record [about] 20,000 new subscribers every day, and we are hoping before the end of September we will reach our three million mark,” DITO chief administrative officer Adel Tamano said at a virtual press briefing on Thursday.

Tamano said that to date, the telco has around 2.6 million subscribers.

“We find this very positive. It shows you the appetite of the market for a new player. We are on pace to get around five to six million subscribers by the end of year,” he said.

“That's our expectation. But that's not truly our first year of operations, it's only nine months. If you were to compute for a year, it would be higher than that,” he added.

Tamano added that DITO’s average monthly revenue per user is currently at P150 to P200.

The telco is expanding its network coverage to 53 more areas nationwide this month, bringing the total to 286 cities and municipalities. —LDF, GMA News
