DITO, Smart offer ‘reward’ for successful SIM registrants

Telecommunications companies DITO Telecommunity Corp. and Smart Communications Inc. are offering “rewards” for their subscribers and potential customers who will successfully register their Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) cards beginning Tuesday, December 27, 2022.

In an advisory, DITO said subscribers who will successfully register their SIM cards will receive 2-gigabyte (GB) bonus data.

In a separate advisory, Smart said its prepaid and TNT subscribers can get a 3 GB free data upon completing the SIM registration process.

The implementation of the SIM Card Registration Act started Tuesday, with several Filipino subscribers already trying to register their own SIM cards.

Major telecommunications firms said they are fully prepared for the implementation of the SIM Card Registration Act, but expect birthing pains in the initial stages.

For registration concerns, users of DITO Telecommunity Corp. can visit https://dito.ph/registerDITO, Globe Telecom Inc. at https://new.globe.com.ph/simreg, and Smart at https://smart.com.ph/simreg.

Existing prepaid and post-paid users will be given 180 days or six months from the effectivity of the law to register their SIM cards, DITO said.

The third telco said failure to register will result in the deactivation of the SIM and possible penalties.

A deactivated SIM will be given a five-day grace period to be registered and get reactivated, DITO added.

Smart, meanwhile, said its postpaid subscribers simply need to confirm the personal information and IDs they submitted for their postpaid plan application.

“To do this confirmation, subscribers just need to text YES to 5858. They shall then receive a confirmation message from Smart upon successful SIM Registration,” Smart said.

“Meanwhile, to register the SIM inserted in their WiFi device, Smart Bro subscribers need to refer to  www.smart.com.ph/viewbroadbandsms for instructions on viewing their required One-Time Password (OTP),” it added.—AOL, GMA Integrated News
