JoyRide launches Japan-inspired taxi service

Inspired by Japan’s JPN Taxi, transport network company JoyRide Ecommerce Technologies Corp. on Wednesday launched its new taxi service that aims to improve passenger experience.

At a press launch in Antipolo City, JoyRide introduced its “Super Taxi” service, which features onboard amenities designed to enhance passenger comfort, convenience, and safety.

Passengers can hail the Super Taxi service directly on the street or they can book a trip through the JoyRide app.

While the features of the service can be considered premium, JoyRide senior vice president for Corporate Affairs Noli Eala said the applicable rates are the same as a regular metered taxi.

Eala said JoyRide will initially deploy 25 units in Metro Manila and plans to increase the fleet next year.

"The public can enjoy all these features of JoyRide Super Taxi without any fare increase, as the service will still be classified as a regular metered taxi or what we call 'De-Metrong Kasundo," he said.

Since it started in December 2019, JoyRide has garnered over five million app downloads and reached a network of over 30,000 two-wheeled and four-wheeled driver-partners across Metro Manila, Rizal, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, Cebu, and Baguio City. It will soon expand its services to Pampanga and llocos Norte.—RF, GMA Integrated News
