Jobstreet, JobsDB, SEEK merged in single, AI-powered platform

Online employment marketplaces Jobstreet, JobsDB, and SEEK have been merged in a single platform, with the goal of connecting job hunters and employers across the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region more effectively through artificial intelligence (AI).

SEEK, which acquired Jobstreet and JobsDB 10 years ago, on Wednesday announced the completion of its platform unification following three years of development and an investment of about AUD $180 million (about P6.66 billion).

In a statement, SEEK said the AI-driven integration will benefit both the employers and job applicants in finding the right match, even though the Jobstreet, JobsDB, and SEEK marketplaces will retain their individual brands.

Peter Bithos, SEEK's chief executive officer for Asia, said that, "At SEEK, everything we do revolves around our customers. One unified platform means we can now offer our product to millions of people across Asia in an entirely new way, so that our customers can find jobs and talent more easily."

"This puts us in a stronger position, more than ever before, to realize our ambition of helping 500 million people develop their careers with five million companies in the region," Bithos said.

According to SEEK, a key feature of the  unified platform is the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in job matching.

AI will assess the talent sustainability of job seekers and match them with work opportunities that fit with their experience and skills.

SEEK said its AI algorithms can likewise provide more precise and relevant matches between employers and talent, expediting the hiring process in Jobstreet and JobsDB.

"The new Jobstreet by SEEK platform can now seamlessly match them based on specific skills, job roles, and career aspirations. [This] is crucial in the Philippines' highly dynamic and evolving employment landscape," said Dan Majarocon, managing director of Jobstreet by SEEK Philippines.

New search feature

Aside from the platform integration, SEEK also introduced a new search feature for Jobstreet in the Philippines, which will allow job seekers to submit job queries using simple phrases or complete sentences on the platform instead of keyword phrases.

The feature will be launched across its APAC markets this year.

Latest data from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) showed the number of unemployed Filipinos stood at 1.83 million in November 2023.
