PAL rolls out 83rd anniversary promo fares

Flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) on Monday announced one-way promotional fares for as low as P83 for domestic flights and $79 for international roundtrip flights this year, as it celebrates its 83rd anniversary.

In an advisory, PAL said domestic one-way domestic economy base fares for flights on or after September 1 will be available for as low as P83, and flights from April 1 to August 31 will be available for as low as P283 for booking from February 26 to March 1.

Meanwhile, roundtrip economy base fares for international flights starting July 1 will be available for as low as $79. This will cover flights to and from Xiamen, Quanzhou Jinjiang, Guangzhou, Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan Taoyuan, and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries.

The same promo will cover roundtrip flights to Australia and Papua New Guinea starting August 1, to the United States and Canada starting September 1, and the Middle East and Japan starting July 1.

PAL will also offer $109 roundtrip economy base fares for flights to Xiamen, Quanzhou Jinjiang, Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Taipei from April 15 to June 30; Guangzhou and Macau from March 1 to to June 30; Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Saigon, Hanoi, Jakarta, and Bali from February 26 to June 30.

The $109 fares will also cover roundtrips to and from Phnom Penh from February 26 to June 30; Australia and Papua New Guinea from May 1 to July 31; Guam starting April 1; Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Honolulu Business and Honolulu Premium from April 1 to June 30 and economy from May 1 to June 30.

This also includes business class to and from Vancouver and Toronto from April 1 to June 30, and premium from May 1 to June 30; Dubai, Doha, Dammam, and Riyadh from March 1 to June 30; and Japan from April 11 to June 30.

The promotional fares may be subject to peak flight surcharges of P50 to P400 for domestic flights and $10 to $30 for international flights, on top of other surcharges and government taxes applicable.

The carrier is set to ink a temporary lease agreement for two wide-body aircraft later this year, presumably from Boeing, to supplement its fleet as one of its planes is set to be returned.

The carrier reported a P5.4-billion net income in the third quarter of 2023, up from P3.5 billion the previous year, which it attributed to the continuing growth of passenger travel and the expansion of flights across its global network.

It flew 4 million passengers during the quarter, up 54%  year-on-year from 2.6 million passengers the same quarter of 2022.

Its nine-month net income climbed to P19.2 billion from P7.2 billion, as it flew 11 million passengers during the period, up from 6.4 million in 2022. —KG, GMA Integrated News
