NNIC partners with PLDT, Converge to boost free WiFi at NAIA

NNIC has partnered with PLDT Inc. and Converge to boost the free WiFi at NAIA.

New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC) has partnered with PLDT Inc. and Converge Information and Communications Technology Solutions Inc. to boost the free WiFi at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).

According to NNIC on Tuesday, the average speeds at NAIA terminals have already increased to 50 to 60 Mbps and a peak of 115 Mbps, with an average of 1,000 users connecting to the free WiFi network across all terminals every hour.

“For air travelers, fast and reliable internet connectivity is a must,” NNIC said in an advisory.

“We are committed to providing a high level of service that meets the expectations of today’s travelers. In time, we hope to deliver on this promise across all aspects of NAIA operations,” it added.

NNIC, made up of San Miguel Holdings Corp., RMM Asian Logistics Inc., RLW Aviaton Development Inc., and Incheon International Airport Corp., took over NAIA on September 14, 2024.

The group is investing some P144 billion to manage and improve NAIA under a 15-year concession, which is extendable by 10 years, and contingent on meeting key performance targets.

Just last Saturday, NNIC said the NAIA Terminal 4 will be closed for renovation starting November 6, to address its aging infrastructure and improve the overall passenger experience. It is expected to reopen in February 2025.
