With 41% market share, Isuzu trucks are ubiquitous on the road
There was a time when all you could see on the road were trucks made by Isuzu. Around just about every corner, you’d find one, hauling goods, construction materials, aggregate, appliance, even people.
A few other brands have cropped up through years, but the Japanese brand has remained on top.
Isuzu Philippines Corporation recently marked its 25-year-reign as the country’s No. 1 truck badge, selling 4,591 units or 41 percent of the market share for the past year alone.
Bouyed by its N-Series, it lords over in the light truck segment, as well as in medium-duty and heavy-duty department.
“What sets the Isuzu N-Series apart is its durability and efficiency,” said IPC president Tetsuya Fujita in a statement.
“It remains the trusted workhorse of many Filipino businesses due to its ability to adapt to various industries while providing long-term reliability.”
The Isuzu N-Series has been a byword in the light-duty truck segment in the country, leading in sales every year since 2000. In 2024, the N-Series sold 2,812 units, claiming 43 percent of the Category III market share.
In keeping with environmental awareness, the N-Series has adopted the Blue Power Euro 4 engine, making the horrific sight of trucks billowing black smoke especially up the flyover a thing of the past.
These N-series are configured as drop-side, aluminum van, refrigerated van, and even fire truck.
Isuzu’s dominance has extended to medium and heavy-duty segments. In 2024, the company sold 1,534 medium-duty units, and claiming 40 percent of the segment's market share.
These include the Isuzu F-Series which are used for logistics, cold chain transport, and industrial hauling.
Isuzu also captured 33.2 percent of the market share in heavy-duty segment, selling 245 units that are used for large-scale logistics and infrastructure projects.
Isuzu has a nationwide network of over 48 dealerships and maintains a large parts inventory to minimize downtime, with a 6,000-square-meter parts warehouse to expedite delivery to dealerships. Additionally, the company’s unique mobile service units, known as Isuzu Mobile Medic Trucks, provide on-site repairs in remote areas. — BM, GMA Integrated News
