Lalamove to offer ride-hailing services starting February 2025
Lalamove on Monday announced that it will start offering ride-hailing services in February even as the company is seeking to onboard at least 15,000 drivers with hatchback cars, sedans, and multi-purpose vehicles by June.
Dubbed Lalamove Ride, the ride-hailing service will be initially available in the Greater Manila Area, Pampanga, and Cebu starting this month, with the company initially collecting a 2% commission rate, leaving the 98% as earnings of partner drivers.
Lalamove, which offers delivery services, said partner drivers can take both delivery and ride bookings, but not simultaneously. Rider partners can choose to take ride bookings during peak hours and take delivery orders during non-peak hours.
“It’s an exciting time, especially for partner drivers, since we’re anticipating a strong demand,” Lalamove Philippines managing director Djon Nacario said in an emailed statement.
“There may be a lot of competition in the ride-hailing scene, but it’s undeniable that many people have been clamoring for Lalamove to expand its services to ride-hailing even before the pandemic given the convenience and affordability we offer,” he added.
Lalamove, founded in Hong Kong in 2013, currently has business operations in 13 markets across Asia, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA). It entered the Philippine market in 2016.
“With 15,000 drivers onboarded by June 2025, we will deliver the same for on-demand transportation to allow Lalamove users to get to where they need to faster and with greater ease,” Nacario said.
Lalamove said interested partner drivers will need to provide documents such as a Certificate of Public Convenience (CPC) or Provisional Authority (PA) issued by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), a professional driver’s license, clearance from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) or the barangay or police, passenger accident insurance, and vehicle photos. –NB, GMA Integrated News
