mWell to acquire Ayala’s KonsultaMD

Metro Pacific Health Tech Corporation (mWell), the digital healthcare arm of Pangilinan-led conglomerate Metro Pacific Investments Corp. (MPIC), is acquiring Ayala Group’s telehealth provider KonsultaMD.
In a news release on Tuesday, mWell said it entered into share purchase deals with KonsultaMD, the flagship healthcare platform of Globe’s 917Ventures, for the transaction, to reinforce its position as the largest digital healthcare ecosystem in the Philippines and further expand its reach and capabilities.
KonsultaMD currently has 2.7 million users and a vast network of partner doctors with deep expertise in mobile-based healthcare solutions.
mWell said the acquisition will be complementary to its existing business offerings.
The company added that KonsultaMD’s integration with its digital health ecosystem will accelerate the growth and expansion of MPIC’s health business, including Metro Pacific Health.
KonsultaMD will continue to keep its brand and operate under MPIC/mWell management in the interim, ensuring continued access to key services while enhancing healthcare delivery.
“Progress for any country depends on a healthy citizenry,” said mWell chairman Manuel Pangilinan. “This agreement represents a giant step forward towards real, immediate, and reliable care for our countrymen,” he said.
Ayala Corp. chairman Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala said, “This acquisition supports our common vision of delivering accessible and inclusive healthcare solutions to every Filipino.” —VBL, GMA Integrated News
