PNR to resume Naga-Legazpi train service on Feb. 26
The Philippine National Railways (PNR) announced on Friday that it would resume train services for the over 100-kilometer Naga-Legazpi route in the Bicol Region starting February 26, 2025.
In a social media post, the PNR confirmed that the Naga-Legazpi route will once again serve commuters, with the first train from Legazpi departing at 4:49 a.m. and the return trip from Naga leaving at 5:30 p.m.
Fare prices for the route range from P15 to P155, with discounts available for senior citizens, students, and persons with disabilities upon presentation of valid identification.
The Naga-Legazpi route will stop at the following stations: Naga, Pili, Baao, Iriga, Lourdes, Bato, Matacon, Polangui, Oas, Ligao, Traveria, Daraga, Bagtang, Washington Drive, Capantawan, and Legazpi.
The PNR initially reopened the Naga-Legazpi route on December 27, 2023, six years after its suspension due to a shortage of train coaches and locomotives.
However, operations were halted again on November 7, 2024, after Tropical Storm Kristine damaged train sets and railways.
The railway operator has since carried out repairs and rehabilitation along the route, paving the way for service resumption later this month. — DVM, GMA Integrated News
