Mercury Drug president Vivian Que-Azcona dies at 69
Mercury Drug Corporation president Vivian Que-Azcona has passed away at the age of 69.
Her death was confirmed by the popular pharmacy chain in a social media post on Thursday evening.
“With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved President. We kindly ask for your prayers for the eternal repose of her soul,” Mercury Drug Corporation said.
Meanwhile, the University of Santo Tomas (UST), where Que-Azcona finished her degree in pharmacy, also expressed its condolences.
“Under her leadership and that of her father’s, Dr. Mariano Que (Doctor of Humanities, honoris causa), Mercury Drug Corporation became the respected pharmacy chain that has helped save lives of so many clients,” UST said in a statement.
“Mercury Drug Corporation has provided a home to many fellow Thomasians of the Que family as our alumni have joined the company in various capacities. Ms. Que-Azcona’s support for Thomasian education has been sustained through the decades, seen in the scholarship grants, on-the-job training agreements, and support for the experiential learning laboratory of the Faculty of Pharmacy at the second floor of the Main Building, among others.”
