LRT, MRT undergo maintenance during Holy Week
Metro Manila’s major train systems underwent scheduled maintenance over the Holy Week to ensure safer and more efficient operations for commuters.
The Metro Rail Transit Line 3 focused on rail grinding along its mainline on Saturday, the third day of its maintenance schedule.
This process involves smoothing and repairing the tracks to eliminate deformations and corrosion caused by daily friction and use—an essential step in maintaining the smooth and safe movement of trains and minimizing service disruptions.
Meanwhile, the Light Rail Transit Authority reported ongoing annual maintenance for LRT-1 and LRT-2 lines.
LRTA Administrator Hernando Cabrera inspected the LRT-1 stations from EDSA to Baclaran on Saturday morning, including the line connecting to the Pasay Depot, to oversee the efforts of the Light Rail Manila Corporation.
Preventive maintenance, inspections, and general cleaning of facilities and equipment were also conducted along the LRT-2 system.
Authorities emphasized that these annual maintenance activities are vital to ensuring the long-term safety and reliability of Metro Manila’s railway systems. — DVM, GMA Integrated News
