PAL announces key leadership changes
Philippine Airlines (PAL) on Wednesday announced key changes in its leadership, as British national and airline industry executive Richard Nuttall is set to take over as president effective May 29, with current president and chief operating officer Stanley Ng set to take on new responsibilities in the parent firm.
Nuttall will assume his position as president on May 29, 2025, and will report directly to chairman and chief executive officer Lucio Tan and PAL Holdings Inc. president and chief operating officer Lucio “Hun Hun” Tan III.
“I am honored to join Philippine Airlines at such a pivotal time. The airline has accomplished so much in recent years, and I look forward to building on that progress as we explore new avenues for growth,” Nuttall said.
Prior to his appointment, Nuttall served as chief executive officer of SriLankan Airlines. He also had leadership stints in airlines across Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Middle East and served as an executive board member of the SkyTeam Alliance.
“Philippine Airlines has always been committed to working with the best people across all levels, and I welcome Richard Nuttall as a worthy addition to an already formidable team. I am confident that he will create and develop sustainable growth for PAL,” Lucio Tan said in an emailed statement.Nuttall will succeed Ng, who is set to be appointed as vice president of PAL Holdings and member of the carrier’s board of directors, where he is expected to provide strategic direction and oversight.
“I warmly welcome Mr. Nuttall to the PAL Group. I believe that under his leadership, we will sustain the momentum we’ve built over the past years. Now, I’m ready to take on this new role with renewed focus and commitment,” Ng said.
PAL on Wednesday also announced the appointment of Carlos Luis Fernandez as executive vice president and chief operating officer effective May 29, 2025. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
