BDO bankrolls VinGroup’s all-electric taxi fleet rollout in PH

Sy family-led BDO Unibank Inc. is providing the financial backbone to scale the operations of the country’s first all-electric taxi fleet powered by Vietnam’s VinFast vehicles and operated by Green GSM Philippines.

In a news release on Wednesday, BDO said it has partnered with electric vehicle manufacturer VinFast Auto Philippines Inc., V-Green Charging Station Development Philippines Inc., and Green and Smart Mobility Philippines Inc. to provide “end-to-end banking solutions.”

The bank said its solutions enable the companies to expand the availability of electric vehicles, strengthen ride-hailing services, and bring more sustainable transport options to the Philippine market.

BDO said VinFast Philippines, a subsidiary of Vietnam’s VinGroup JSC, will leverage the bank’s comprehensive suite of banking solutions which include cash management, consumer banking, and insurance services, among others.

On the other hand, V-Green has secured approvals to roll out electric vehicle charging stations in SM Supermalls with further expansion plans within the BDO–SM ecosystem.

Moreover, Green GSM Philippines completed its integration with BDO’s digital banking platform in June 2025.

Both companies will continue to work together on automated payment solutions to support its driver onboarding and expansion, according to BDO.

“Partnering with BDO, a trusted and forward-thinking financial institution, allows us to empower Filipinos with greater access to EVs while helping shape a smarter, greener, and more livable urban future,” said Duong Thi Thu Trang, deputy CEO of Sales and Marketing at VinFast.

“By partnering with BDO, we can fast-track the deployment of convenient and reliable charging solutions that make EV use more practical and scalable across the Philippines,” said Nguyen Thanh Duong, CEO of V-Green.

“Our partnership with BDO strengthens our driver-partner support and enables sustainable fleet expansion. It also lays the foundation to help the Philippines in reducing emissions and modernizing urban transportation,” said Dao Quy Phi, CEO of Green GSM Philippines. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
