In an advisory, the CAB urged airlines "to provide flexible and compassionate passenger accommodation measures," including the waiving of rebooking and cancellation fees and full refunds, conversion of tickets to travel funds/vouchers, as well as allocation of free cargo space for humanitarian and relief efforts, subject to the safety and operational limitations of the airlines.

The advisory is effective for 30 days unless sooner lifted or extended.

Earlier, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) reported that all airports under its jurisdiction remained operational despite the strong earthquake.

Two flights bound for Davao City, however, were diverted to Mactan-Cebu International Airport and General Santos International Airport. —VBL, GMA Integrated News
