Meralco rates up for 2nd straight month in November 2025
Customers of the Manila Electric Company Inc. will have to pay more for electricity this November, as the Pangilinan-led provider on Monday announced another rate hike to mark the second straight month of upward adjustments.
In an advisory, Meralco said it will increase its rate by P0.1520 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) in November, bringing the overall rate for a typical household to P13.4702 per kWh from P13.3182 per kWh in October.
This will translate to an additional P30 in the total electricity bill of residential customers consuming 200 kWh, P46 for those consuming 300 kWh, P61 for those consuming 400 kWh, and P76 for those consuming 500 kWh.
The overall increase was driven by higher transmission charges, which increased by P0.1468 per kWh for residential customers, due to higher ancillary service charges from the Reserve Market incurred by the National Grid Corporation (NGCP).
The feed-in tariff allowance (FIT-All) also increased by P0.884 per kWh, following the directive of the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) to implement the new FIT-All of P0.2073 per kWh starting this November.
This was slightly offset by the decline in generation charges, which fell by P0.1008 per kWh to P7.900, as charges from power supply agreements (PSAs) fell by P0.2985 mainly due to lower fuel costs, and the wholesale electricity spot market (WESM) which went down by P0.6273 per kWh.
