NU to expand 4 campuses for 125th anniversary
SM Group’s National University (NU) on Monday announced the expansion of four campuses to accommodate more students, as the academic institution celebrates its 125th anniversary.
According to the Sy-led SM Group, NU will expand its main campus in Sampaloc, Manila, and its other campuses in Clark (Pampanga), Mall of Asia (Pasay), and Fairview (Quezon City).
Under the expansion plans, NU Clark will build a new academic tower with classrooms and laboratories for additional program offerings, while NU Mall of Asia will add two more floors for more classrooms and laboratories.
The NU Fairview will also establish another academic tower, while the NU Manila main campus will have 24 new classrooms, faculty rooms, a learning resource center, and an auditorium.
“These expansions will allow us to serve more students with more programs in engineering, architecture, tourism, psychology, accountancy, and other in-demand fields,” NU president Renato Carlos Ermita Jr. said in an emailed statement.
SM Investments Corp., the holding company for the Sy family’s businesses, reported a 6% growth to hit a P64.4-billion net income in the first nine months of the year, with its banking unit BDO Unibank accounting for 50%. — Jon Viktor Cabuenas/RF, GMA Integrated News
