Boracay hotels partner with EvoEnergi as aggregated power supplier
A hotel chain in Boracay became the country's first retail power-aggregated hotel group after securing a deal with D&L Group affiliate EvoEnergi as its electricity supplier partner.
EvoEnergi has united Discovery World Boracay, Hue Hotels and Resorts of Luana Life & Style Leisure Inc., The Lind Boracay of Scottland Leisure Inc., and Ferra Premier together with Ferra Hotel & Garden Suites of JenGroup Leisure Inc. into a single retail aggregated hotel group, known as EVO Boracay.
The EVO Boracay represents five hotels with a combined peak demand of approximately 1,360 kilowatts aggregated under the same business district criterion of the Retail Aggregation Program.
The landmark partnership demonstrates how the government's Retail Aggregation Program (RAP) has rapidly gained traction in less than two years since it was implemented.
According to EvoEnergi, the RAP allows power consumers to pool the electricity requirements of facilities that collectively meet the 500-kilowatt threshold, which will later enable them to join the Competitive Retail Electricity Market.
"This is a historic milestone for Boracay and the hospitality industry as a whole," EvoEnergi President Julian Jacob Lao said in a press release.
"The EVO Boracay Retail Aggregated Group is now empowered to take charge of its energy costs, especially given its seasonal requirements. The savings can be invested back into enhancing guest services, helping make Boracay an even more attractive destination for tourists," he added.
Discovery Boracay Hotel Manager Erwin Peter Lopez, meanwhile, said their decision to enter into the RAP, alongside neighboring hotels, has provided them with a "cooperative advantage," allowing them to join forces for a shared purpose of reducing electricity costs.
For his part, Luana Life & Style Leisure Inc. Managing Director Dexter Ivan Lee expressed his appreciation to EvoEnergi as their retail aggregator for introducing RAP and pooling the demand of Boracay hotel to get better generation rates.
He said this program stands as a powerful statement of resilience amid Boracay's recent tourism downturn.
EvoEnergi's partnership with Boracay hotels marks another milestone in expanding its presence and extending retail electricity supply across the Visayas region.
The ceremonial switching was attended by hotel executives and EvoEnergi leaders, marking a significant step forward for collaborative, sustainable, and cost-efficient energy management in Boracay’s hospitality sector. — VDV, GMA Integrated News
